Facilities: Visitors Moorings available on the quay by The Harbour Inn, or with Harbour Marine by prior arrangement. A great stopping point for overnight or longer (some stay forever). Water and Electric by arrangement with the Harbour Master. Shower and toilet facilities available on production on mooring receipt at the caravan site near the Harbour Entrance. Southwold Harbour for visitors by foot/road. (Visit the Southwold Walk site) Southwold Harbour can be accessed either by turning right by the Kings Head and following the road past the water tower or driving through the town and via ferry road. Going through the town towards the Harbour sees the Salt Marshes to the right and the dunes and sea to the left. At the bottom of ferry road there is a large pay and display car park, which also holds the Alfred Corry Museum, Southwold Life-boat and Shed which is open some weekends in the Summer to visitors and Vicki's Tea Kiosk. Walking away from the Harbour Entrance in a Westerly direction, takes you along Blackshore and the quay. You will find a remarkable mile of contrast along the banks of the River Blyth: the tranquillity of a sunrise or sunset, the activity of the local fishermen landing their catch, the rowing boat ferrying people to Walberswick, and busy activity of the visitors quay and the Harbour Inn. Any visit to Southwold should include time spent at the Harbour. There are normally 3 fish shops open during the season, but always a good idea to ring first if you are making a special trip. On the other side of the River Blyth lays the village of Walberswick. For a few pence you can be rowed across the Blyth weekends from the beginning of April to End of May then daily up to the end of September. Alternatively you can walk down one side of the river and across the Bailey Bridge which you will find following the tow path from the Harbour Inn. Harbour Marine Services Boatyard, Chandlers and gift shop comes next and is well worth a visit if you are looking for a nautical gift to take home. ![]() Following the road past the Sailing Club and Harbour master's office is the visitors quay, for those who have made their way to Southwold by sea, most of the crews are normally to be found in the Harbour Inn. This historic pub has been recently overhauled with new toilets and cellar as well as incorporating the nearby rundown net sheds which have been converted into a restaurant with fine views over the river and marshes. The Harbour is not to be missed, especially just before sunset with a pint of Adnams bitter in your hand. e-mail: info@harbourmarine.uk.com or write to HMS Ltd, Blackshore, Southwold Harbour, Southwold, Suffolk IP18 6TA | ||||||||||||||||||||||
